Other parks have also been used in the recent past.
It may be a complete coincidence, but on Sunday in Finsbury Park, it seemed to me that many Haringey Parks/Leisure staff had their hands full for many hours dealing with the Wireless Festival. Some of them may be taking accrued hours-in-lieu.

I've heard they've got a (standard) key to get the bollards down. Plus it's close to another traveller site on Clyde Rd. Not sure if the both are connected.
It's awful considering our school that is right next to the park has Sports day on Fri and it's the school fete afterwards.
I went through the park and a masked guy on a moped without number plate raced past me on the grass. It might not be connected, but hadn't seen that in Downhills Park before.

Yes, I counted 29 cars, vans and caravans in the park this morning! What you can't see from that photo is that closer to the vechicles, the green is covered with deck chairs, tables, toys, bin bags and litter. Very unfortunate for all of the residents who use the park every day...especially in the height of summer.
We all pay our council tax, for the upkeep of this public space, so I hope it's cleared up soon. It makes one wonder how so many large vechicles could have gained access, why are the larger gates not locked when not in use by council/park vechicles? Why aren't there bollards to stop unauthorised vechicles entering? Surely these can't be expensive measures to employ? Certainly not as expensive, time consuming, or difficult as moving along (and clearing up after) people who might not want to be moved along?

According to the Community Cafe it's for a wedding tomorrow and more vehicles and people are to be expected.

When William the Conqueror came over and said "Cette terre est à moi" he was lauded as the new King. So when a new conqueror comes into the park with their camp followers and say "this land is ours", they're carrying on a long and much admired English tradition.
Legal.... mwah ha ha ha ha ha ha.

I think you should pop along to Downhills Park and tell the men of these vans that you deem them "camp". Be sure to report back on their reaction!

Ha ha ha, not the modern usage of the word camp. Rereading I can see how you might think that as you're not the most charitable reader of what I write but it was obvious the context was set nearly a thousand years ago.

I don't think of you as a charitable cause John! Seriously, if I have ever sounded mean in my replies then I apologise. And I did get the meaning - my interpretation was knowingly erroneous as I was attempting a joke. Whether it was a good one is a different matter!
