Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Found in the wonderful archives of Exploring 20th Century London, a flyer for an anarchist picnic in Finsbury Park. As well as tug of war and Punch and Judy, there was mass football - North London v South London...wonder who won?

The picnic is organised for May Day, International Workers' Day and is "dedicated to all prisoners rotting in the world's jails".

See the flyer here

Did anyone on the site go?

I seem to remember in the late 90s that Finsbury Park still held a May Day festival.

I wonder if they had floodlights?
I'd just finished my first six months as a tenant on Umfreville Road by Mayday. Even at 32 years younger I wasn't keen on clambering over FP railings in the dark for an anarchic midnight kick-off.
Oh those Anarchists, even time itself must submit to their anarchic world view

They clearly hadn't read E F on the topic of High Noon
