A huge "well done and thank you!" to all of the local people who took part in the first Russell Park clean-up on Saturday
Russell Park N22 is a small-but-perfectly-formed greenspace within the Noel Park Estate and boasts a playground, gym, a Children’s Centre and football pitch...
14 people collected 16 bags of rubbish as well as some duvets, a laptop, a purse and a knife from within the park. They then sat back in their tidy park to enjoy a cup of tea and a lovely slice of homemade cake. It proved to be a real bonding session for all involved.
The group plan to make the cleanups a regular activity - helping to take care of this great outdoor space for themselves and others to enjoy.
If you live in Haringey and would like to start a clean-up group in your area please contact Sarah Hayes on 07469 660 842 or email sarah.hayes@cleanupuk.org.uk

CleanupUK's Beautiful Boroughs Project works with residents across ten London Boroughs: Barking & Dagenham, Camden, Enfield, Greenwich, Hackney, Haringey, Newham, Redbridge, Tower Hamlets and Waltham Forest.
The project helps residents to form groups that look after their environment by holding local clean-ups. The hope is that these events become regular resident-organised meetings.
As well as improving the look of their area, residents find that volunteering makes a huge difference to their feelings of community and neighbourliness. Here are some of the comments from people who’ve worked at CleanupUK’s events:
“It’s not just about litter; it’s about getting to know other people”
“One person can become two, then become three; we can take on the world like that!”
“The people I met are very friendly and I now know that there are very good people in my area”
