The Bonfire Band, recent guests at Stapleton Hall
Antic, owners of the Stapleton Hall Tavern in Stroud Green and many other music bars have lodged an alcohol and entertainment licensing application for the former British Legion building on Elder Avenue in Crouch End.
Originally up for sale at just below £3/4m, the building was eventually sold at auction. Fearing what fate might befall the building, local residents clubbed together to bid for the building, but were outgunned when the price rocketed above @1M.
Antic have a track record of taking over buildings and converting them to lively venues. Plans show a roomy drinking area and the retention of the current stage, with live music, recorded music and dancing.
Meanwhile at the other end of Crouch End, the Harringay Arms has also applied for a late night licence. So, if both applications are approved, it looks like Crouch End might develop it's night time entrainment economy into something rather spritelier!
