Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!
PENSTOCK FOOTPATH CLOSED BY POLICE TO PEDESTRIANS
The footpath runs from Hornsey (Newland Road) to Wood Green (Coburg Road) via New River and Village has been closed after a body was found (possibly in the New River). Local press trying to find out more. People from Hornsey end being turned back by police. Assume same from WG end. Don't know if Cross Lane from High Street or New River Avenue also closed.
Very sad at any time but this close to Christmas always seems so much worse.

Is sad. The river is a repository for bodies from time to time. Thames Water yet object to boats or swimming etc etc "It's drinking water". I'd rather have a boat in mine than a corpse to be honest.

Cycle this route everyday to work and was turned back today by a policeman who said someone had fallen in the river. The exact spot where the tent was is an absolute mud bath at the moment as a result of large diggers working on the river bank last week. The mud, together with the slope towards the river would make this part of the river bank treacherous. Hope and pray this wasn't a factor, either way, a terrible tragedy.
