Oh go on, I'm genuinely interested to here peoples views on this.
There is a huge debate going on in Turkey regards possible EU membership. Some of the younger generation want to see Turkey accepted into the EU because their outlook is international and they see membership as a way of involving all citizens of Turkish society in a positive way.

Respect of different peoples cultures, needs and desires is important for all countries, including Turkey. EU membership maybe instrumental in facilitating this process.
I think I can honestly say that almost every culture with which I have had contact, has members who remain insulated from the world around them, those who resist any change, those who have developed to new perspectives and new generations confused about their identity in a modern Britain. I include British and my own Irish culture in this also.
I personally find that assuming that all "xxxx" are this and all "xxxx" are that, is quite broad and stereotypical

I have had good and bad experiences in all cultures here and elsewhere. Sure there are some sexist men on this stretch, but that is not restricted to any one nationality or cultural background.
What we need to remember is that not all immigrants to London come from nice big metropolitan areas where they get a nice big metropolitan view of the world. I think Monica Ali covers this very well in Brick Lane.
Really? That's not been my experience at all. I've never felt at all vulnerable here, certainly feel far safer than I did when I lived off Stroud Green Road.
I didn't say she got a lot of it, I said it had happened here, there's a huge difference, in fact she has had more problems which I wont go into from British men in other parts of the country, which proves my point this is not restricted to any stereotype.

John, has hit the nail on the head, not everyone who comes to London from other nations and cultures and within the UK have the same cosmopolitan outlook on life as a lot of Londoners do.
