Would the bar you went to have been the original panorama bar ? This was in a better place than its after-fire replacemant.  The bar was at the corner and looked out over the whole of London- hence its name.  Was the roller rink at that end of the building too ?

No, the bar was actually just off to the right of the rink. The refreshment area was divided into two areas, a cafe part and the bar. Also had the skate hire room there.

As you look at the palace, the rink was at the left end [the Grove end?] opposite end to the BBC.

I remember the Panorama bar - pink/purple neon sign seems to ring a bell.

Hi Bill - The floor had a urethane coating so Bostik was applied to the wooden wheels to give grip on the bends. Plastic wheels dragged & were a lot slower. The Bostik wheels marked the floor so the speed skating moved next door to The Palm Court on a smooth asphalt track.
Beadle shop was in Myddleton Road N22 before moving to Finsbury Road N22. If you use Facebook join the group - Roller Skating In North London.
I was served my first pint in The Panorama Bar - Happy Days.
