During the very early 60's I was in the 77th North London Scout Troop and we used to meet outside the Manor House Pub on a Saturday morning to go 10 pin bowling in Stamford Hill - great days and even better memories!

Ah, the 75th North London were on Stanhope Gardens

This photo is from the summer of 1961 after the the trolleys to Tottenham and Stamford Hill had been withdrawn. If you look closely at the overhead wires, on the right you can see three insulators, where the lines used to cross. The 641 was withdrawn on 7th November 1961 and replaced by the 141 bus Winchmore Hill to Grove Park. That and the 171 provided two links to Elephant & Castle from Harringay. Unimaginable these days.

You can just make out the cobble-stoned road surface which was still there when I got the bus to Wood Green etc as a child.

Bus tyres had great difficulty getting 'a grip' on the cobbles when it was wet or ice & snow where there was/is? an incline on the junction's South side.

With the bus drivers accelerating in frustration at getting nowhere, our journey to school was all the more exciting with the engine roaring and the wheels spinning helplessly - that was until the Spoilsports put tarmac down!

Things didn't always go right for trolleybuses at Manor House!
