Late on this but Alroy Road was an extension of Wightman Road and its naming always puzzled us as kids - anyone know why?

The far end of the Ladder - the Disraeli roads (Tancred, Lothair etc) were built by a developer before the main part of the Ladder. Alroy was laid out as part of that. Wightman started from the other end just a little later and was one of the roads laid out by the British And Co. BLC's land ended roughly where Wightman joins Alroy at the railway bridge.

Thank you. Interesting your ref to Disraeli as we always thought of our end as the Admirals! In fact I am not sure we ever accepted Endymion as part of the Ladder really! But they fit as the bottom two rungs very neatly.
