Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

The house on the left hand side called Coleville after the Cole Potteries at Bruce Grove, 630 Green Lanes.

I lived there from 1951 until 1965.

I had another look at the house name on google earth, Hugh. I realise now I misinformed you, the house name was spelt without an e, so Colville and Colville terrace in Hornsey were both spelt the same.

It does make you wonder about the connection, Especially as the father of Agnes Phillips had been a builder.

Thanks. For me, it's more than a wonder: it's a slam-dunk, barely a shred of doubt! You have your house-name origin - best things come...etc.

Where's Colville Terrace? I've not heard of that.

PS: Here's the story of another local builder, which I started researching as the result of a newly-revealed house name. The story unexpectedly turned out to be about the man who built my own house.
