Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hello! With all the media discussion about the increase in people visiting food banks, I want to help. Does anyone know where the nearest food bank is and what rules, if any, there are for donating?

Thanks ever so!

The Gospel Centre foodbank - corner of Raleigh Road and Wightman Road N8

Yes we operate a satellite food bank from the main one, 'Living Springs', who are franchised by the Trussell Trust. Our times for receiving people in need of food is Sundays 11.30 -1pm and on Tuesday from 6.30- 9pm. People should receive vouchers from the likes of the Job centre, CAB etc so they can be referred to us. However, the foodbank is for crisis situations so we will endeavour to provide food.

We will gladly receive any donations at these times as well as people offering to help at the Tuesday time.  The food which we regularly give out is rice, pasta, pasta sauce, chocolate, biscuits, juice, long life milk, baked beans, tinned tomatoes, tinned fruit and vegetables, tea, coffee, sugar, boxed cereals, tinned fish and meat.

As can be seen from the article link Living Springs have no proper centre to store the food so have stopped being open to the public. They are now operating a distribution centre to the satellite foodbanks out of a church hall near Bounds Green. In additon they have no dedicated office any longer, so that is why calls are not being returned.

Food is mainly donated from supermarket collections. The next one is due to be at Wood Green Morrisons on June 29th and as has been mentioned there is one at Tesco's on July 6th.
