Saw signs on the temporary bridge this morning saying that it was going to be closed from tomorrow (Fri 19th) until the bridge works have ended.

Didn't have a chance to find out more. Gonna make my commute (by bike) a pain, as well as getting to the park.

Justin Guest

Chair LCSP Traffic Sub-Committee

**************

You will no doubt be aware of the fact the Green Lane Traffic Study is in progress. To contribute to this process the LCSP has coordinated with the Living Wightman Campaign to prepare a resident led submission document that has gone to the council. The “Fresh Start” document aims to characterise the problems faced by many Ladder residents as the Ladder has increasingly become a sacrificial zone as a result what has historically been weak traffic management planning on Green Lanes.

The document sets out the impacts of this weakness in planning, and how the application of ever more pressure on a narrower subset of roads in the borough to act as a relief valve has affected the Ladder.

The document is designed to provoke thought and offer insights to decision makers and influencers who may not be familiar with the area. The document goes further in proposing a partnership between the council and residents in what will hopefully be a long term effort to fundamentally change the profile of traffic flows across the Ladder and surrounding areas.

We also jointly make recommendations as to actions that can be taken to begin making meaningful progress in reducing the traffic burden on the area. We recognise the solution may not be a result of a single intervention, and as a result, as the Green lanes Traffic Study progresses, the Fresh Start document is designed to be a living document, which we hope to add to at appropriate moments and re-circulate to keep the discussion alive.

For those of you with feedback you are welcome to contact myself in the first instance.

Please also see attached the joint Living Wightman letter agreed at the last LCSP meeting requesting a temporary extension of the Wightman closure until the Green Lanes Traffic Study reports back.

Please note, the traffic sub-group will aim to meet next week. We do not have a date yet. We welcome the ongoing participation of Ladder residents, and if anyone would like to come along, or represent their road please let me know. You will be most welcome.
Green Lanes "Guess The Current Traffic Volume" Competitiontag:harringayonline.com,2016-07-27:844301:Topic:9038572016-07-27T23:20:39.508ZJoeWhttps://harringayonline.com/profile/joew

The following diagram (taken form the traffic consultants' existing conditions note) shows the number of daily vehicle movements recorded at various local data collection points in Jan 2016:

As most people know, the data collection equipment was installed again recently, so we will soon have traffic volume figures for Green Lanes while Wightman Road has been subject to filtered permeability.

(Sorry the screenshot isn't very clear, if you can't make it out the biggest number at the top of Wightman is 16,335 per day, and the biggest number on GL by the Arena is 22,514).

This competition is to guess the current Green Lanes average daily traffic volume as recorded by the data collection equipment.

There were no winners (no entrants, actually) in my previous competition, so those prizes are still available.

Competition closing date is when the new data is available (I have no idea when this is).

Bonne Chance!

This survey aims to find out how Wightman Road becoming a no through road as a result of the bridge works has affected you. It was primarily designed for residents of Wightman and the Ladder Roads but if you live outside that area, you're welcome to complete it.

The Green Lanes Area Transport Study has a wide set of aims, which I suspect most of us fully support

Improving quality of life and health outcomes for local residents

Improving and the urban realm and local environment

Enabling people to feel safe and proud of where they live and work

Rationalising traffic volumes and routes including the impacts of the closures in the Gardens Area and Hermitage Road

Improving road safety

Maintaining or enhancing bus service journey times and reliability

Enhancing pedestrian accessibility into and within the study area

Improving cycle access within the study area taking account of the CRISP study proposals.

Sadly, the evidence and information collected and presented by the consultants currently appears to largely focus on vehicle volumes and movements. Whilst this information is important it's also important to capture a wider range of information. We hope our survey will go some way to rectifying this. The survey also gives you the opportunity to say overall whether you think Wightman being a no through road has been positive or negative and to elaborate on what a difference it has made to you.
