Here's an article I found about securing letter boxes. I wanted to mention this here to raise attention, in case the criminals try this trick again elsewhere.

Over the August bank holiday last year I had everything - including clothes, phone, keys and shoes - stolen while I was swimming, so I had to trudge home in some lost property the Centre kindly lent me and take a lift from a helpful neighbour to my parents house.

Hi, I am based in N4 and rather incredibly, I woke up this morning to find that 4 very heavy pot plants from outside our house had been stolen, presumably at some point in the night or early morning (they were outside yesterday evening).

I am really shocked by it as they were all very heavy, so the thief or thieves would have needed a large vehicle and I can't believe that there is much of a secondary market for selling such stolen goods!

2 of the pots that were stolen were new and had been put out this week. The other 2 had been there for years with no issue.

It is really upsetting as they were of strong sentimental value.

I looked round our street this morning and nobody else seemed to have had their plants taken.

I'd really like to get them back but am presuming that offering a reward would be pointless?

Has anyone else experienced thefts such as this?

Yesterday evening at 730pm I was walking up Allison Road and outside some of the houses near Wightman road end I had to pass by a bedraggled looking blonde lady who looked much the worse for wear, 2 men, and a lanky man on a bicycle who looked like they were doing a drug deal.

This morning my husband spotted two men apparently gazing at windows of some of the houses on Allison Road, and thisevening he’s also spotted a couple of men ‘casing the joint’.

I have never noticed this people before or this sort of behaviour on our street, but just wanted to do a shout out so people are vigilant. Lock your houses well, and don’t approach any possible dealers, but if we spot them again maybe we can contact the police. I don’t know - advice welcomed...

Last Friday, my son's wet weather kit was stolen from his car on Stapleton Hall Rd - and part of it was dumped further along the road towards Harringay Station.

I wonder if any more has been dumped, and we might get it back. He is a young man, at the beginning of his working life and this loss is a big thing for him - he needs outdoor kit.

a Patagonia bumbag; a black mountain equipment duffel bag containing spare clothes: jeans, fleeces, hats, a Russian rabbit skin fur hat (sentimental value), including a hat with the logo "Pursuit", and North Face, Bench, and Kodak fleeces, North Face waterproof trousers; a red floor bag; A "Doggibag" - big square leather bag - and paper blue roll and cling film.

We'd be very grateful for news if anyone has seen this lot - it is quite a lot! Or saw anyone carrying it on Friday evening along Stapleton Hall Rd. or nearby.

Just wanted to share that a man on a bike (didn't look like a teenager to me!) tried to grab my phone as I passed Willow Walk on West Green Road around 9am Friday morning. I have the world's heaviest phone case and think I must have pressed it to my ear so he failed to get it, thank goodness. I shouted an obscenity at him which I'm sure ruined his day.

For some reason I'm more vigilant in the evenings so just a note to be cautious at all times.

Beware two thieves around the Ladder - both in their thirties, one was white with a foreign accent - didn't see the other one. The first stopped me today and asked for directions while (I think) the other stole my purse. I was with baby and buggy. They tried to use credit cards in a flight center but didn't have pin numbers.

If (by remote chance) my bright green purse ends up in your front garden or bin, please let me know - it was a gift and a sad loss.

Hi everyone,

I was loading some stuff into the car at 11:30am this morning right outside my flat on Warham Road - and my bike was taken from the porch whilst I had my back turned.

It is a Genesis IO mountain bike - the frame is silver and it has white suspension forks at the front. (picture below)

Thought I'd post it on here in case anyone sees anything or knows where local stolen bikes get sold on.

Thanks,

I see these chaining posts (see attached photo, what are they actually called?) all around London but not in Harringay.

With the chronic lack of secure parking spaces in our council and with motorbike theft always on the up, why don't they provide them here?

I had my motorbike stolen a couple of years ago from just outside my window near Turnpike Lane and the Police closed the case straight away due to lack of witnesses, CCTV, debris, whatever, and the council doesn't seem to be too bothered…

Now I'd really need a new motorbike as my new workplace is quite a lot farther than the old one but I really don't want to experience having my bike stolen again, it was one of the worst things ever.
Are we really left to our own luck? Is it not possible to request them and have them installed where needed? Pumpkin crime on the Laddertag:harringayonline.com,2012-09-02:844301:Topic:4023082012-09-02T10:50:39.559ZSophie Smithhttps://harringayonline.com/profile/SophieSmith

Returning from a week's holiday I was devastated to find my prize pumpkin missing from the front garden!

The pumpkin was nearly ripe when I left, the size of a football, and growing in one of the old recycling boxes. Looks like someone leaned over the wall and pinched it.

The stolen goods looked similar to this:

I'm quite flattered anyone thought it was worth pinching as I doubt it would have fully ripened after the bad summer we've had. I don't mind at all if someone's hungry enough to pinch it, but I'm rather worried my prize squash just got kicked up the street by a drunk.

Next time I will bike-lock it to the fence!

The pumpkin was similar to the one above, orange, with no distinct markings or distinguishing features. It went missing from the front garden of 140 Salisbury Road between Weds 29th August and Sunday 2 Sept. A reward of one bag of chocolate buttons will be offered for information leading to the capture of those responsible or the return of the stolen goods.
