SUMMARY:Yaz Fentazi and Robyn Hemmings (Jazz at Karamel)
DESCRIPTION:Collage Arts are thrilled to announce Yaz Fentazi and Roby
n Hemmings return to Karamel on 30 November!\nYaz Fentazi (oud) & Roby
n‬ Hemmings (upright bass) perform and give the audience a magical s
ense of ‘travelling’ in their minds with their very colourful and
rich music that draws on the vast traditions of jazz, blues, classical
and North African/Middle Eastern.\nBuilt around their original compos
itions, the Duo’s irresistible grooves and vibrant full sound create
a sizzling party atmosphere. They have appeared many times on BBC rad
io and TV, have performed at festivals including Glastonbury, Womad an
d the Ealing jazz festival and uk’s venues like 606, Ronnie Scott, J
azz Cafe, Hackney empire, Royal festival hall, Barbican, as well as in
ternationally\nYaz Fentazi composes in his own words “a blend of tra
ditional with modern music.” It is a uniquely clever and contemporar
y style of North African fusion, coming from a long tradition of absor
bing influences. (SEN Magazine)\nThe Guardian has described Fentazi’
s compositions as having “breadth and atmosphere, and his oud soloin
g, which recalls the drive and dynamism of world oud star ‪Anouar Br
ahem‬, is often stunning,”. (Guardian).\nIn the early 90’s when
graduating with a music technology Diploma in London he released two a
lbums with Fantazia Mimouna Records and Harmonia Mundi. He has been in
vited for tours and recording with many artists including The Master d
 rummers of Africa, ‪Robert Plant‬ (‪Led Zeppelin‬), ‪Natacha
  Atlas‬, Trance Global Underground, ‪Peter Ind‬, ‪Marc Almond
 , ‪Cheb Mami‬, Jim Palmer (Robert’s son) and spoken-words with
the actor Peter Marinker and more.\nClip on Instagram: \nhttps://www
