Haringey Literature Live presents a new season of writing courses at The Chocolate Factory. We have screen writing, novel writing, poetry, life writing and short fiction on offer.
Short stories offer writers an exciting space to experiment with ideas and to try out different voices. If crafted with skill, short fiction contains all the power and resonance of the best novels. In these workshops we will be decoding extracts from brilliant published stories (from Kate Mansfield to Kevin Barry) as well as learning to shape and develop our own stories, focusing on stylistic approaches to: voice, characterization, story structure/plot, setting and point of view. Students will leave the course having tried out different forms of short fiction: from flash fiction (as little as 50 words) to longer stories of up to 3,000 words and beyond. All levels welcome.
(Thurs) Feb 4, 11, (half term), 25, March 3, 10, 17
10.30am-1pm
Workshop practitioner: Giovanna Iozzi
To make it clear - this is a six week course, on Thursdays (see dates above). The total cost for the course is £90. Email kate@collage-arts.org to sign up.
