We have six Street Tree Walks this year, all on the first Sunday of every other month at 3pm for an hour: Feb 9th, Apr 6th, Jun 1st, Aug 3rd, Oct 5th, Dec 7th
We also do other type of events - this is one of them (i.e. not in a street, in a park!). The May Tree walk will be in Finsbury Park- meet at the Cafe – map here: http://goo.gl/maps/zouSX
We will walk along the Finsbury Park Tree Trail, brilliantly charted by the marvellous Friends of Finsbury Park
We intend to see at least one poplar, oak, cedar, maple, horse chestnut, beech, Giant Redwood, birch, pine, lime, cheery, hornbeam and London Plane tree. We will stop after an hour, but you are very welcome to continue with the printed guide provided.
We will ask you for a no-obligation donation – the walk is free, this is only if you can afford it and will be done discreetly.
Please ‘join’ the event on Facebook or contact us to tell us you are going – it really helps.
Complete beginners are welcome on our free walks – several of us know very little, some of us know quite a bit and we’re all keen to learn.
If you have any books or guides that might help give us a key to tree identification, please bring what you can easily carry.
Photographers are welcome – we always looking to add to our list of identified trees and hope you’ll contribute a few of the pictures you take if you wish.
The Tree Walk is intended to last around an hour (can stretch to nearly two hours if people are happy). If it rains too much we will head for the nearest cafe and use leaves and small branches (and what we can see out of the window) to focus on what is around us.
Please note that you don’t Walk have to be a tree warden to join in – many people simply turn up every so often to look and learn and sometimes to contribute.
