An inclusive circus troupe, Cirque Nova Sports, whose performers include people with learning or physical disabilities, will top the bill at a free festival and activity day celebrating the opening of the Paralympic Games later this month.
Called the PARAde Festival, the free celebration offers an entertaining and fun-packed day where visitors can try their hand at a variety of sports and activities, including: cycling for the disabled; athletics, including wheelchair racing; football for deaf children; wheelchair basketball; special needs swimming; gymnastics; tennis and even drama.
As well as sporting activities the festival brings a number of live street acts to the centre's car park as part of the Greater London Authority's Showtime Festival.
Inside the leisure centre visitors can have a go at a range of events and sports activities, with experts on hand to offer tips and encouragement.
