Wednesday June 26th - 7.30-9.30pm
Big Green Bookswap - Sarah Pinborough and Alison Littlewood
The last Wednesday of the month is the official new date for our Bookswaps, so you can block out your diary for the rest of the year.
Hosted by the Great Northern Railway Tavern on Hornsey Road, this is a more irreverent type of literary event. They've proved extremely popular, and that's hardly surprising as we proudly present to you some of the best contemporary writers out there.
So, this is what you need to do.
1. Bring along with you a book which you like enough to recommend but are prepared to swap for another.
2. Enjoy a delicious buffet provided by the Tavern.
3. Have a drink, sit back and enjoy a great evening of fun.
There's a bit of a "Snow White" theme to our Bookswap this month as we welcome two very special guests.
Sarah Pinborough is a critically acclaimed horror, thriller and YA author.
Sarah was the 2009 winner of the British Fantasy Award for Best Short Story, and has three times been short-listed for Best Novel. She has also been short-listed for a World Fantasy Award. Her novella, The Language of Dying was short-listed for the Shirley Jackson Award and won the 2010 British Fantasy Award for Best Novella.
Her short stories have appeared in several anthologies and she has a horror film Cracked currently in development and another original screenplay under option.
Her novel "Poison" was published earlier this year. A dark, contemporary retelling of the Snow White story which takes all the elements of the classic fairytale and puts a modern spin on the characters, their motives and their desires. Snow White isn't your quite such an innocent flower in this version though.
A Cold Season is Alison’s first novel. It was selected for the Richard and Judy Book Club, where it was described as “perfect reading for a dark winter’s night.”
Her latest novel, Path of Needles has just been published, and Alison's short stories have appeared in numerous magazines and anthologies, including Black Static, Crimewave and Not One Of Us, as well as the British Fantasy Society's Dark Horizons.
Tickets for our Bookswap are just £5. This includes the buffet.
