Summer of Stars kids open sporting trials at New River Sports and Fitness

Registered leisure charity Fusion Lifestyle launched their ‘Great Outdoors Summer of Stars’ campaign today, in tandem with Jason Gardener, former British Olympic Sprinter, local Olympic sprint hopeful Corrine Humphries, and children from across the Haringey Borough. The new initiative has been launched to find ten kids of varying levels of experience and ability and offer them the chance to win a year-long sports scholarship. The idea is to nurture them and provide them with confidence and self-belief to realise their dreams of becoming the next British sporting talent.

The ‘Great Outdoors Summer of Stars’ kicks off with open trials at New River Sports and Fitness on Saturday 2^nd July for football, tennis, athletics and rugby and at Tottenham Green Pools & Fitness on Sunday 10th July for swimming. Children of all capabilities are invited to attend, get active, and join in the fun with their families to be in with a chance to win this fantastic prize.  Expert judges from sporting bodies including England Athletics, Fit for Sport, UK Active, SCL, Broadwater Farm Football Club, StreetGames UK and London Skolars RLFC will team up with Fusion Lifestyle and Jason Gardener to select the winners.

Children will pre-register for the sports they would like to try out and, on the day, they will be split into two age groups (6-10 and 11-15). Fusion will have a selection of coaches on hand to run a range of different games and challenges across each sport. The children will be chosen based on their interest, enthusiasm, or natural talent for the sport – previous experience is not required!
