Event Description

From Saturday 30th May, you'll be able to access the Speaking Stones audio trail by following a link from our social media @StonesSpeaking

You'll find an online story map, bursting with photos and sound clips, all captioned for anyone with hearing difficulties.

If you're out on your daily walk? Find an artwork on the map and it will speak to you from your phone. It's like Pokemon Go for street art.

And if you're stuck inside, but still hungry to explore? You can access the art straight from your sofa.

The Speaking Stones team are confident you'll find something to surprise and delight you.

Oh, and I will of course be posting a link to the Speaking Stones audio trail right here on Harringay Online, at 12pm on 30th May!

Local writers have given a voice to the art on your street.

You can hear the Speaking Stones audio trail by following an online link from @StonesSpeaking or going to SpeakingStones.org

Or you can visit our YouTube channel at:

Critical Moment Theatre worked with local writers on the secret life of the neighbourhood's art. Helped by historians, retired railwaymen, joggers and cyclists, who all joined in with discoveries, they were supported by The Mayor of London's Culture Seeds Fund.

Together, we made an online map, bursting with sound-clips and captioned for anyone with hearing difficulties.

On your daily walk? The map's artworks will speak to you direct from your phone. Stuck inside? Enjoy Haringey's artistic riches, direct from your sofa.

With Covid-19, live Speaking Stones events were put on hold. But when it's safe, the team will offer library workshops, giving local people more chances to contribute.

The trail features sculptures by Marilyn Collins, Judith Bluck, TB Huxley-Jones, Heather Burrell and Ann Carrington. There's a Bansky or two, inspiration from the great Turkish artist Osman Hamdi Bey and street-art, old and new.

Discovering the artworks has been a delight and we can't wait to share their stories with you!
