Seasonal Activities Maypole Dancing and Ceremony

Familly Fun Seasonal Event, marking inaugural session with brand new Maypole.In this traditional May celebration the Maypole symbolises the power of
the sun and its relationship with the earth, producing an abundance of blossoming fertility in May.

FROM 3.30pm

Greening & decorating the Maypole & surrounds, make willow/hawthorn/ivy head garlands, practice dancing round the maypole.

Ceremony at 5pm
Bring any additional greenery or flowers to add to the garlands or to decorate the space and any food & drink that sparkles to contribute to the feast following the celebration.

If you have any memories or knowledge you have of Maypole dancing you're especially welcome!
Come weave and spin your wishes around the maypole.
Come visit the fabulous Harmony Gardens project at Broadwater Farm  Community Centre, Tottenham.
