PAINTING IN ACRYLIC ONE DAY COURSE

Course is £40, includes all materials (paints, brushes, primed paper, canvas boards) and tuition.

This course is for those interested in learning how to paint in acrylics or those who would like to develop their skills in this area.

Course description.

I will provide demonstrations and exercises which help you understand colour mixing, tone, pigment choice, brush handling and palette knife techniques.

We will explore how the subject of personal identity can be reflected within a landscape or still life and participants will be encouraged to develop their own style.

The photographs of landscape and still life set-ups will provide reference material which we will be working on.

Course structure

• Characteristics of acrylic paint – looking at the tools of the trade from brushes, painting knives, painting surfaces, paper and canvas board.

• Mixing colours – experience mixing with primary and complementary colour pairs. Build up tones using a dark to light technique.

• Different techniques – learn different effects such as stippling and palette knife work

• Composition and design – seeing a painting as an arrangement of shapes and colours. Learn how to create a visual pathway in a composition.
