Jiff Bayliss presents an illustrated talk tracing the development of the Islington side of Stroud Green and Finsbury Park from rural area to present-day urban village and transport interchange.
Most of the Stroud Green area (and Finsbury Park itself) falls within the London Borough of Haringey, however, a small portion to the west and south of district can be found in the neighbouring borough of Islington. The talk focuses on the origins and development of the area to the west of Stroud Green Road, an important shopping and residential street, as well as the adjoining district of Finsbury Park.
Jiff Bayliss is a local histographer and qualified Islington Guided Walks guide. He is also a research volunteer at Islington Museum.
Doors open at 7.30pm for the sale of refreshments and publications and close at 8pm. The main doors have to be closed at that time for security reasons, so anyone arriving after then will be unable to gain access.
A donation of £2 is requested from non-members.
