A talk by Jennifer Bell MBE, in which she will consider the importance of collecting the memories of ordinary people and how they affect our knowledge of history.
In particular she will introduce the audience to the fascinating life stories of people living in a local sheltered housing project, run by Hornsey Housing Trust, and how they were collected and published in the book Memories of Tenants of Margaret Hill House, Hornsey.
There will be readings from some of these published memories and the book will be on sale at the lecture. Jennifer hopes to share her enthusiasm for recounting and recording memories with a wider audience!
Doors open at 7.30pm for the sale of refreshments and publications and close at 8pm when the talk starts. The main doors have to be closed at that time for security reasons, so anyone arriving after then will be unable to gain access.
