Event Description

Unusually the last local meeting of the year of the North London Branch of Make Votes Matter  is to be held this Wednesday. The 9th December.

This is to plan for the "Day of Action" on the 12th December where the idea is to send M.P.s Nationally Christmas Greetings & Good Wishes and how much happier the New Year would be with Proportional Representation in the House of Commons.

With more & more branches starting and more & more M.P.s (and over 111 Labour Constituencies passing motions in favour!) the pressure is growing.

MVM is non-partisan & has support from within all mainstream parties.

Your political allegiances are irrelevant, whatever they are or none, please come & join us.

Hello,

I received an e-mail notifying me of a response to the above but it is not now visible on the thread.

Please accept my apologies for not replying sooner but I was tied-up elsewhere.

The remember the message accused us of causing disruption and delays to traffic etc.

We can reassure you that this is not us.  Our movement tends to be polite and cooperative.  This next step in making this country a proper democracy has to be by consent.

We run our Street Stalls (Roadshows) but do so where there is space & usually in places where this is common practice.

We almost always find an enthusiastic response with many (@ 100 or so) signing up supporting us in around four hours on a Saturday.

This is growing and now we believe has support amongst the majority.

This is not political "Puff" to bolster an argument but a mixture of surveys, connections with all political parties and talking to people on the streets etc., nationwide.

111 Labour CLPs support it including Hornsey & Wood Green. it is rather a pity that the MP for that area feels she cannot follow the wishes of her constituency in this matter as she happily does in others. We have hopes however!

Local people joined in MVM's "Day of Action" to persuade local MPs to support Proportional Representation in the House of Commons.

It was a great success both nationally & locally with Christmas Cards sent to David Lammy (a supporter) and Catherine West (who, unlike her constituents) opposes.

The campaign goes on and is increasing with now 117 Labour constituency parties supporting it incl. Hornsey & Wood Green
