Join Stroud Green & Harringay Library Friends
Group on a walking tour of Stroud Green,
Hornsey and Crouch End and hear about the
wonderful women and events in the past,
including the day someone threw a potato at
Christabel Pankhurst, a bakery shop owner
whose legacy lives on in the education of
hundreds of children, a local Baroness who
funded a memorial to another woman who set
up the ‘Band of Mercy’, intrepid Tottenham
travellers, banned authors and why the crowds
shouted ‘Gammans must go’ when the
borough elected its first female MP in 1957.

Return for coffee and a chat back at the library
at the end of the walk.
