 ion of a great novel, a short story or a poem stopping at certain poin
 ts to allow the group to talk about what they have read. There is no n
 eed for group members to read aloud or speak – it’s fine to just l
 isten. The idea is to create a space where people feel at ease.\r\nRea
 ding the literature aloud in real time means that everyone is involved
  in a shared, live experience. Group members are encouraged by the Rea
 der Leader to respond personally, sharing feelings, thoughts and memor
 ies provoked by the reading.\r\nEveryone experiences the text in their
  own way, but the literature provides a shared language that can help 
 group members to understand themselves – and others – better.\r\nS
 hared Reading helps people to understand their individual and collecti
 ve inner lives, round the same table, at the same time.\r\nYou are wel
 come to arrive early and browse the books available or stay on after t
 he group or some may want to go on to a local café for a coffee/tea t
