Event Description

Mote of Dust Films and Arthouse Crouch End are involved in an interesting collaboration this Summer called ‘Street Stories’.  This August 12th, at 8.30pm, we are pleased to be screening the UK premiere of our feature documentary, Something You Can Call Home :

www.arthousecrouchend.co.uk/programme/?programme_id=1988348

Here’s the trailer and short synopsis:

www.somethingyoucancallhome.com/trailer

'A former marine with a government career, a student (and female impersonator) living under a bridge – the face of homelessness is changing rapidly.  Some make the transition; others fall deeper through the cracks.  With both intimacy and touches of dark humour, Something You Can Call Home – set in the coastal city of Wilmington, North Carolina – explores what's essential for physical and emotional survival.'

After the film (75min) there will be a post-screening discussion on the true extent of homelessness in the UK, what impact such has on all our lives, and what we each can do to offer positive support.  Our post-screening guest speakers will be:

* Bridget Young (private renting programme manager with Crisis)

* Emma Jackson (sociologist at Goldsmiths, University of London)

* Christoph Warrack (CEO of Open Cinema), who'll be facilitating

If you have any questions about the event, please get in touch:  info@moteofdustfilms.com

Street Stories is a collaboration between ArtHouse, Homeless Film Festival, Mote of Dust Films, North London YMCA, Levitt Bernstein, Labour of Love and Mike Abrahams.
