Rhythm Sticks have produced their debut album release entitled The Hen’s Tooth. Rhythm Sticks have wowed London audiences this year at the Vortex Outdoors Festival, prestigious Jazz On 3's Jazz In The Round at The Cockpit Theatre and also have been played and championed on BBC Radio London. This November, The Hen’s Tooth will be launched at the Barbican as part of the EFG London Jazz Festival - London's biggest music festival.
In June, Rhythm Sticks entered the world renowned The Pool studio to professionally record a genre-defying nine track album of original material. The Hen’s Tooth will be released in both digital and CD formats in autumn 2013 via www.rhythmsticks.org
Beginning in 2008, as a small after-school music club, Rhythm Sticks began developing group compositions and improvisations. With the leadership of acclaimed London based singer/composer, Andrew Plummer and drummer Tom Greenhalgh, the group have produced a sound that is entirely their own.
Priding themselves on collective ownership of all aspects of the ensemble, Rhythm Sticks goes from strength to strength. In 2012 they entered the National Music-For-Youth Festival, promoting them across the country and becoming the only ensemble in their group to win two awards. Now, in 2013, with their debut album, Rhythm Sticks springboard into the world of professional music- widening the scope of youth music and developing new audiences.
Rhythm Sticks are performing at the Barbican Freestage on Sunday 24th November 13.15-14.00 as part of the EFG London Jazz Festival's series "Next Generation Takes Over".
