SUMMARY:Crouch End Festival Chorus - Monteverdi Vespers
DESCRIPTION:Claudio Monteverdi’s Vespers of 1610 has grown to rival
Handel’s Messiah as the most popular choral work from the Baroque
period. Its contrasts of grandeur and intimacy are captivating, and
Monteverdi’s use of space – distanced echo singing and the placem
ent of singers – evokes an arresting sense of drama and wonder. Und
er David Temple, Crouch End Festival Chorus delivers all the exubera
nce, beauty, rhythmic invention and true kaleidoscope of colours and
styles that run through this collection of pieces.\nOpening the conc
ert will be a performance of Chiara Margarita Cozzolani’s rarely he
ard Deus in adiutorium – the very same words that begin Monteverdiâ
 €™s Vespers.\n\nFor more information visit https://harringayonline.com
