Join us in enjoying the bracing fresh air and learn the ancient craft of coppicing - sawing down in a 7/8 year rotation Hazel hedging which enables the trees to live for hundreds of years, and in the meantime provides lots of wood for bean poles, pea sticks, fencing, firewood etc.We will also be creating 'dead hedges' to create windbreaks and provide habitat for little creatures and insects.
The workshops are free, but places are limited so booking is essential. You can attend one or both days. Come dressed for the weather and wear waterproof footwear - the ground will be boggy! Bring a packed lunch and a thermos of hot drink if you'd like one. The workshop will be led by Suz Williams, a qualified and experienced coppice worker.
