Join us at Blend Cafe on Tuesdays in April at 7pm for candlelit Yin Yoga.
Our Yin Yoga classes consists of a series of long-held, passive (still) and seated floor poses (yep, you will be sitting down all the session) that mainly work the lower part of the body—the hips, pelvis, inner thighs, lower spine. These areas are especially rich in connective tissues. If our connective tissue is not stimulated, it can become hard and even crystallised, this can lead to stiffness and staggered energy flow. Unlike vinyasa based yoga, Yin yoga postures - asanas - are held for longer periods of time—for beginners, it may range from 45 seconds to two minutes; more advanced practitioners may stay in one asana for five minutes or more.
Yin yoga is great for the mind, but also great for flexibility, relaxation and overall well being. Yin Yoga stimulates our meridians ( energy channels), the same lines that are targeted in acupuncture and acupressure, and by stimulating these lines we work on releasing stagnated energy which is important for your overall well being.
Yin yoga might also be referred to as restorative Yoga and can be used to heal the body and mind from inside out.
You might feel a little happier in the morning, be a bit more flexible on the dance-floor and after a few sessions you might start to sparkle.
During the class we use gentle sound vibrations to lead you in and out of the poses. The classes are lit by candlelight, the perfect way to still busy minds.
Beginners, intermediate, advanced and Yin/Yang classes available.
