Two of this year’s Man Booker Prize shortlisted authors will be joining BGB for an exclusive literary evening at the Bookshop on Thursday October 11th at 7.00pm.
Alison Moore is the author of The Lighthouse, published by Salt. This is her debut novel.
Margaret Drabble called it “Melancholy and haunting. The sense of loneliness and discomfort and rejection is compelling, the low key prose carefully handled. It's a serious novel with a distinctive and unsettling atmosphere.”
Tan Twan Eng is author of The Garden of Evening Mists, published by Myrmidon. This is his second novel. His first novel ‘The Gift of Rain’, was a Man Booker longlisted title in 2007.
Boyd Tonkin in The Independent called it “an elegant and haunting novel of art and war and memory...Tan writes with breath-catching poise and grace, linguistic refinement and searching intelligence”.
Alison and Tan will be in conversation with author and journalist Graham Marks. They will also be reading from their books and there will be a Q and A.
The authors will be happy to sign copies of their books, which will be available on the night at 20% discount.
