Event Description

The founder of Burlesque Against Breast Cancer, Brighton-based sex writer, Emily Dubberley:

‘Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK. It affects 44,000 women - and 300 men - per year. That means that by the end of today, over 100 women - and probably one man - will have found out that they have the disease. And earlier this year one of them, unfortunately, was my mother. She luckily survived after undergoing radiotherapy and had immense support from cancer charities including Macmillan. It only seemed fair to give them that support back.’

As well as a number of events, including a charity burlesque ball and a special midnight screening of Moulin Rouge, Emily has teamed up with the publisher, Xcite Books, to collate a special Burlesque version of the very popular range from Xcite, ‘Ultimate Burlesque‘ which will be showcased at the Big Green Bookshop on the night.

Enter the sparkling world of burlesque as you've never seen it before. The UK's top erotic writers including Katie Fforde, Jo Rees, Nikki Magennis and Kristina Lloyd revel in the erotic glamour of fluttering eyelashes, twirling tassels and more than a hint of stocking. Sapphic encounters, fetish fun, sensual exploration, kinky submission and domination - whatever your pleasure these stories are guaranteed to provide the ultimate tease.

Joining us will be four authors from the book who will be reading their contributions, Maxim Jakubowski, Mark Farley and Richard Bardsley, plus extra special performances from Sarah Berry and Carmen Ali.

OK, now this is not only going to be a brilliant night at the shop, but it's for a really good cause. Please don't let me down. Support.
