On 13th December 2025, an event to launch the new book Why Vegans Don’t: A Philosophical Guide to Vegan Behaviour will take place at the vegan venue Karamel in Wood Green, London, where Jordi Casamitjana will talk about his new book and will sell signed copies at a discount price.
ℹ️ About the event On Saturday 13th December 2025, the free event will start at 4:30 PM and finish at 6 PM (when participants can join another free event in the venue titled Pooches & Popcorn, which is a dog-friendly movie night) at Karamel (4 Coburg Rd, London N22 6UJ), a vegan bar where you can get a lovely vegan dinner after the event ends. During the launch, Jordi will read an extract of his book, answer questions about it, and attendees will be able to buy a signed copy at a much cheaper price.
📘 About the book A thought-provoking exploration of vegan philosophy that includes controversial issues still debated within the vegan movement, this book goes deep into the ethical, scientific, and philosophical reasons why vegans reject some products and practices, uncovering an enlightened worldview that challenges exploitation, inspires moral progress, and celebrates sentient life in all its forms. From the main axioms of the philosophy of veganism to the reasons behind refusing backyard eggs, ahimsa silk, oysters, or horse riding, each chapter offers clarity, evidence, and insight for anyone seeking to understand what living by the vegan philosophy means.
👤 About Jordi Originally from Catalonia, but resident in the UK for several decades, Jordi Casamitjana is a vegan zoologist specialising in animal behaviour, who has been involved in different aspects of animal protection for many years. In addition to scientific research, he has worked as an undercover investigator and animal welfare consultant, often on wild animal issues. Some of his professional achievements include the closure of several zoos, securing the first successful prosecutions of UK illegal hunters under the Hunting Act 2004, and his participation in the banning of bullfighting in Catalonia. Jordi, who has been vegan since 2002, became well-known in 2020 for securing the legal protection of all ethical vegans from discrimination in Great Britain in a landmark legal case that was discussed all over the world. Jordi is also the author of a novel titled The Demon’s Trial and the autobiographical reference book Ethical Vegan: A Personal and Political Journey to Change the World. Since 2020, he has become a freelance content writer and video creator for several vegan organisations, as well as a public speaker on veganism and animal rights issues.
