Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

MP Catherine West has started a petition and is going to see M&S execs so if you'd like to see the store remain open -- and improve please sign the petition.

Even more importantly than the store staying open is the impact its closure could have on the high road.

Best,

Rachella

It is a shame as M&S is the place to buy school uniform. It is always busy and the staff are extremely helpful. This is where i pick up my orders.

I have already signed the petition

If it will be tinned up for a while, and then replaced by some scuzzy 99p shop, perhaps LBH can do them a deal on their rates? It will have a big negative effect on Wood Green as a  Destination Town Centre if it goes.  If its just that its not viable, which of their costs are critical?  Are they paying huge rent, or do they own it?  Staffing has been cut to minimum  already.

Isn't campaigning to keep open Wood Green M&S like campaigning to stay married to an unkept disinterested husband who makes you pay for everything and some ?

My thoughts exactly.

can't imagine why anyone would miss this throwback of a shop. Not to mention their long and dishonourable sponsorship and support for Israel and its war crimes.

Groan.

If you want to boycott shops with tenuous connections to dubious regimes, you could start with the Turkish ones

which ones would they be John?

Hugh's thread about the Council's attempt to establish a " Green Lanes " district seems to have disappeared so I cannot check, but I believe the Council paper said there are " several "

Possibily in the discussions group together by the "harringay name" tag.

People are paying M&S prices in Tkmax, it's not a price point M&S are struggling with, it's the fact that young Wood Green just isn't digging the M&S product or brand.

In regards to who is more evil, who knows, the cheap meat industry is pretty evil when you look into what conditions animals live in to make really cheap meat.

Not that I love the Israili government but the moment you chow down animals which suffered a tortuous life, the finger pointing becomes a little lost.

But I guess that's our fault for not asking more questions. The day the bar code is linked to live CCTV of the factory or farm where the product was made will be a compete game changer.
Someone who says 'M&S is known for sponsoring Israel' goes on to say 'I don't understand the logic of this sweeping statement'. Sigh. My local Turkish shop sells Israeli avocados and dates!! What a total mind****!
