Harringay online

Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

A third chance to see Mayflower, at Harringay station again, with an outing to York on the Cathedrals Express. Detailed times here, return around  2155.

Next local steam? There's a trip on Sat 21st March starting on the Bluebell Railway, to Cambridge and Ely, but the route is through Highbury & Islington about 1100, not via Harringay.

The second one looks like a diesel?  Not coming over to Gospel Oak unless I see feel smell and hear steam.

Pam, the Network Rail timetabling software has no box to tick for 'steam'; they have to select 'diesel' as the default nominal haulage. Unless there's a   very   late change, that train on the 21st will be steam-hauled

Thanks, I'll book in for breakfast with my Gospel Oak connection then.

Late update, Friday morning - still slated as steam haulage tomorrow, and it returns via Harringay station around 1855 (had assumed return would be the reverse of outward, not so). Rather dark for good pictures though.

Any idea what this bit means?   Is it running along the line that crosses over the High Rd into SoTo station?  I fancy some new pics on the new bridge.

No, it won't do that today - it runs from Stratford through Tottenham Hale by passing north through that Tottenham South junction. The normal trains from Stratford to Stansted Airport take that route too.

The occasional train does turn west at Tottenham South junction though to get to South Tottenham station, then north to Seven Sisters by using South Tottenham junction.

I want my money back.  Almost missed it cos I thought this was a regular shuttle train coming round the bend.  Do the paying passengers get a discount when this happens, Diesel Dreams has not quite the same romantic ring?

Oh dear, oh dear, sorry Pam. It's no comfort, but I had a similarly dispiriting sight at a cold and windy Tottenham Hale (I had planned to see it at Gospel Oak also, but a Person from Porlock put paid to that).  It's still up as steam on the  uksteam  website, and they normally report substitutions as soon as they learn of them, even after the event.

At least you got a breakfast out of it, I hope.

Don't know about partial refunds, I'd guess a credit note might be issued against further trips.

Video to follow - FWIW.

From a note on my youtube post -
john clark - She had boiler problems last night and failed her fitness run test

Thank you Pam.

I'll resist dangling temptations from now on, given the disappointment quotient.
