Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!
B1 61306 'Mayflower's' first run through Harringay in preservation
This Saturday there is another "Cathedrals Express" from Southend, this time to Bath & Bristol, hauled by a new locomotive to charter train operators Steam Dreams and new steam locomotive for the Barking - Gospel Oak Line, post the early 1960s.
As an 'inter-regional' line the Barking - Gospel Oak line must have had regular visits from B1s on freight trains and the odd special passenger excursion in steam days, although their regular London haunts would have been King's Cross, Broad Street and Liverpool Street.
Normally found at the North Norfolk Railway, Thompson, LNER designed Class B1 No 61306 "Mayflower" has been hauling trains for Steam Dreams since last Autumn and is booked to pass Harringay Park Junction at 08:49, Upper Holloway at 08:52 and Gospel Oak at 08:57. The train also calls to pick up up pre booked passengers at West Hampstead 09:01 - 09:03.
The return train passes Harringay Park Junction at 20:35 but this is diesel hauled. More details from www.steamdreams.com @Steam_Dreams

I am? Which paper is that? BGORUG had a photo shoot with the Barking & Dagenham Post Friday afternoon.
Which reminds me, can anyone help the Ham & High out with a photo of the train? I shall not get that far west.

We could only use pictures that are taken in our area, which are these stations:
• Crouch Hill
• Gospel Oak 08:57
• Hampstead Heath
• Finchley Road & Frognal
• West Hampstead
Don’t worry about sending pictures from other stations as we won’t be able to use them unfortunately. If anything changes and you do have images from the list above it would be great to catch up again.

I think UKsteaminfo gives the headcode for each train, try putting that into Real Time Trains and you should get the schedule.
Have you ever tried Open Train Times? As well as schedules you can access the live signalling diagrams for many parts of the country. I see they have diagrams from King's Cross to Tallington (north of P'boro) on the ECML.
I use the OTT diagrams of the North London Line (inc T&H to Barking) and the Barking area on the LTS map when doing my peak periods monitoring role on the @RidingtheGoblin Twitter feed. These OTT diagrams have been constructed by OTT from the raw Network Rail data, but while certain things are left out and there are a few minor errors, it is just like watching the real thing in a signal box or control office.

What a wonderful sight, sound and - perhaps most evocatively, smell. The pungent, billowing plume made the most evocative link with the era of steam. Here are two photos snapped near to Crouch Hill station (both of which are subject to my copyright, btw!).
Is there a repeat on Sunday? This seems to be suggested by one of the replies on this post.

Saw it go over the bridge at Green Lanes - the point being is that I don't recall seeing such bright and shiny carriages, as well as the locomotive. They positively sparkled in the sunshine.

I did comment to the photographer standing next to me at bridge 33 (Lea Navigation) that the coaches looked very clean. Either a deep clean or a repaint and varnish? David Smith's West Coast Railways is a hard bitten commercial outfit and while generally to a reasonable internal standard, it's very rare for one his several coaching sets to gleam externally, apart from the Northern Belle, that is!

Hello Glenn. We both chose the same place to get a shot! Great minds etc.... good to meet you briefly. Heres the shot I took, in a couple of weeks all the foliage on the tree will be out but I reckon there is one more shot to be had from this location!
I just saw a class 37 with the County of Essex behind returning the empty coaching stock go through Harringay around 1.00 today. No wonder the tickets are expensive with all these additional train movements to be factored into the cost.
