Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

HOL Flower Show - October (aka. what's good in your garden *now*)

Well into Autumn now. Many flowers still around (eg. Hypericum first appeared for me in early June) but berries and leaf colour are becoming more the order of the day...

FAQ
  • What's it all about? See here.
  • Great - where can I see all the 'shows'? See here.
  • Can I contribute? Most welcome. If you can make the image file size modest (say less than 100k), it will be quicker to upload and view.

Pyracantha - Red and Orange variations. I didn't spot the green insect until after I'd taken the picture.

"Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness" is this my favourite season and poem? Could be!
pears
leaves
'shrooms
Those pears look good enough to eat - are they?
I see you are building up quite an interesting fungi collection!
The pears are delicious but take a lot of ripening. I pretty much weaned my youngest on pears from the garden last year, talk about local food!
I'm going to do a fungi themed blog post soon, in the hope there is an expert out there who can help me identify them! I have an old tree stump in my garden that just keeps throwing up surprises!
After stubbornly refusing to flower all summer, this mauve Cosmos has just flowered in the last week (the white version appeared a couple of months ago), maybe it was sulking until the rain stopped...

One wee contribution:

Tricyrtis formosana - just purchased from the Muswell Hill Fair thing a few weeks ago.

Unusual! Commonly called toad lily apparently.
Not as exotic as Hugh's magnificant toad lily or Liz's weird and wonderful mushrooms, but this is one of my favourite October sights. Mind you, looked even better the day before (when all the leaves were still ON the tree!).
