One of a feeding pair. This one was perched on the New River grating at the entrance to the Wightman Road culvert seemingly on watch while the other was walking on floatsam.

As it is so yellow, I suppose it ought to be called yellow but according to the rspb web-site this one is called grey; maybe because the yellow wagtail is even yellower! Also much more rare I believe.
It's a grey alright, they usually hang out near water. Nice spot!
I am not a bird specialist myself. I just like snapping ones that appear in or near my garden and it is enough for me to find a good looking bird that sits still long enough to get a good shot. Google Image is usually enough to sort out which is which but there are lots of more specialised web sites available. I notice that one even gives immensely detailed advice as to how to distinguish a pied wagtail from a white wagtail which I had not even heard of (see: ttp://www.thesoc.myzen.co.uk/docs/white-wagtail-id.pdf).
