Come one guys, most of us live locally. Are there really only 22 people who care about this?

The shop third in from the left sells satellite dishes... Good luck.

Harringay is known in London as "bedsit land" and many people come here for somewhere cheap to stay and watch TV from home. Whilst some of us are in London for all it has to offer (and it's amazing, right?) many people are just here to work and watch TV from "home".

That shop has closed down (or moved) now though hasn't it? The picture is slightly out of date. Also, as others have pointed out the majority of satellite dishes are probably disused.

Bedsit land isn't just Harringay - I used to live in bedsit land in Earl's Court!

Yes the " TECH " shop has moved further north on Green Lanes. But they didn't bother to take down their old dishes. That's why I suggested ( in a parallel thread ) contacting Rob  Chau at the Harringay Traders Association - rob@harringay4shops.com

Case in point - it's just laziness (and, in that particular case, a rather sneaky form of self promotion). I'll do that if you think it would help, but maybe it would work better as an 'open letter' signed by a number of residents?

Thank you for bothering about this Richard. I have signed and hope it does the job - Haringey's architecture should be better respected and cared for. And yes people, when they move, removing a satellite dish is the very last thing on their minds unfortunately. Most people hate the ugly sat dishes which are probably mostly old and abandoned. It is the scourge of new technology throughout UK, not just 'bedsit land' in Haringey but anyway come on HoL support this petition please.

If there are more than two dishes on a building ( not home or flat - building ) planning permission is required for the third et seq.

It's symptomatic of a bigger problem though, isn't it?

If you let one thing (such as old satellite dishes rusting away) get out of control then soon you find no one cares about anything any more because all they see is an existing mess (fly tipping, pavements broken by parked cars and lorries, knocked over bollards and street furniture, etc.)

(Talking of removing old satellite dishes: last time I looked there was still a "squarial" over on the Ferry Lane estate. Beat that!)

" I'd have thought the council could use its limited resources for more useful things." Like paying bonuses to Council staff for just doing their job ?

Please, remind me, John, which council staff are getting bonuses?

Homes for Haringey repair workers.

Of course, it's a Daily Mail report

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2432926/Haringey-council-so...

Thanks, John. I've sent a "member inquiry" to Homes for Haringey asking for the status of the "Inquiry" into this, which they told the Daily Mail about in September.
