Read in an article that you can use your used teabags to nourish houseplants
to nourish houseplants that prefer less acidic soil, simply tear open a tea bag, and add the contents to a watering can before watering your houseplants. The bits of tea will nourish your plants without adding too much acidity to the soil.
If one of your plants looks especially sickly, make a twice-brewed tea by steeping one or two spent teabags in boiling water. Allow the water to cool, and use it on your houseplants for a healthy boost.
It also mentions that coffee grounds will suit plants that like acid-loving plants such as tomatoes, carrots, roses, rhododendrons and azaleas.
Anyone tried this?

Yes, my nanna Rose used to do this, she used egg shells too. I put our coffee grinds and tea bags into the compost bin. The plants always seem to love the compost these additions create, i use it for both our indoor and out door plants. I some times give out house plants the coffee grinds in water like you like you just posted.
Thanks very helpful. Am using coffee grounds as a deterrent to cats to stop them pooing in my gravel, so I will use it for my plants as well.
