Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Spurred on by this week's talk and walk on Alexandra Park's sporting history, I dug up these two old movies showing the race track in use in the 1920s.

The track often described as "Frying pan shaped" had 2 loops coming off the home straight. The course opened in June 1868 and racing was held there for 102 years until its closure in September 1970.

There are still remnants of evidence that a racecourse existed here. On the ground some of the rails are still in place just as they were when racehorses thundered around the treacherous bends. Further evidence can be found of the track layout on Google Maps.
