Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hi, does anyone recall the name of the Greek restaurant in Crouch End, in the late 60's and 70's? I used it regularly from 1968. The owner went on to the Royal Norfolk Hotel in Enfield Town. My enduring memories are of Crepes Suzette cooked at the table and Mateus Rose. There were problems at the time and the restaurant was bombed. Thanks

Was it the Arocaria, Weston Park? If you Google "Crouch End Greek restaurant shooting" an article on it comes up.

On another site someone suggested The Naples, the owner, Andrew did go on to the Royal Norfolk, I* think that is the name, thanks.

From the 1969 phone directory:

Second up from the corner.

Oh wow, Hugh, that is marvellous, thank you!

Named after the famous Greek city, Naples? And serving the famous Greek dish, Crepes Suzette? None of this makes sense.

Ha ha ha, I am a vegetarian so my menu was limited. I really did love those Crêpes Suzette cooked by Andrew at the table.

There was the Naples  (I think it was)  which we (HJ and friends) used a lot until one day in about 1961/2 or so they were done for some hygiene infringements including having frozen rats in the freezer! Was on the YMCA side of Tottenham Lane, about opposite the Queens.

If there were rats in my Crêpes Suzette, they were tasty! This Naples was at 43 Topsfield Parade N8. Thanks for the info though Richard!

Well, it came as a shock to us in the press bench at Highgate Court so there is every chance that we also had... ugh!
