Tue 13 Feb about 1500 at Harringay, Tornado + support coach to Didcot and back, and on Friday for a 'Paddington'-themed circular tour from London Victoria.

Notes on proper excursions in 2018, departure times at King's Cross (KX)

Sat 14 Apr KX departure about 0820. Tornado to York on the Ebor Flyer, specially authorised for 90 mph running.
Thu 19 Apr KX - Scarborough (probably mid morning) Flying Scotsman on the 9-day tour The Great Britain XI.


[Sat 19 May southbound with stop at Finsbury Park about 1000, Tornado to Canterbury.]

Edit  - postponed to Mon 27 Aug - Tornado still under repair and testing after valve gear failure on 14 April. Cancelled - Tornado still not ready, blame the hot weather which meant no testing possible June - late August, fire risk.


Sat 2 Jun KX - York/Scarborough dep 0818, Tornado on The Yorkshire Pullman -- Orient Express pullman carriages.

Edit  - cancelled - Tornado still undergoing repairs, to return to action in early July.


Sat 23 Jun southbound very approximately 1300, Flying Scotsman one-way to Ealing Broadway.

Edit - NEW ENTRY   Tue 10 July about 0915 1100 southbound, about 1650 northbound - Tornado  60009 Union of South Africa (with diesel assistance in the hot dry fire-risk weather)


Edit - Tornado still not available.  Sat 21 Jul KX - Newcastle dep 0815. Tornado including a visit to the P2 project, the building of a second new steam locomotive. P2 Project website here   https://www.p2steam.com/

There should be more tours in the second half of the year, details yet to be released. Individual excursions will be announced nearer the time.

Dates confirmed as of mid-May are Sun 23 Sep and Sun 9 Dec at Harringay, and POSSIBLY Wed 5 Dec mid-morning at Harringay Green Lanes, [edit] though much more likely via South Tottenham and Seven Sisters, not HGL.

Good news about the Tornado move via Harringay Park Junction. I was worried that following electrification steam might be banned from the Barking - Gospel Oak.

Sorry if you were out this afternoon, and don't bother on Saturday -- both runs are cancelled. A fault not with the locomotive per se but with the electronics that link to Network Rail's Train Protection and Warning system.
