On 7th December 2012, Harringay held it's first Lantern Parade. In a symbolic act of neighbourhood unity one parade left from The Gardens area and one from the Ladder. They met in the heart of Harringay, outside the Salisbury where an estimated 400 people took part in the illumination of the Christmas Tree.
All credit to Ant Elder for breathing this event into life and to all the other community members who worked hard to make it happen.
I haven't been able to get any video of the parade from the Gardens, - though Andy Newman is looking. Thank you to Gillian Merchant and Malcolm Hadley for the Gardens stills. Thanks also to Adam Coffman for the still shot of the parade on Green Lanes and to Sue Green for the video clip of the bell ringing children with Santa. David Lammy's rendition of Jingle Bells is available for download on iTunes.
More on the parade in the forum and still pictures in the gallery.
